By Edward Lucie-Smith
Lynn Chadwick is perhapse the best known British sculptor of the generation which immediately followed Hery Moore. He has been internationally celebrated since hw won the main prize for scultpure at the Venice Biennale of 1956. Despite this, and the presence of numerous works in important British and foreign collections, there has been surprisingly little extended critical writing about his work.
This is the first full-length study covering the whole of Chadwick's career. In a penetrating and sympathetic text, Edward Lucie-Smith demonstrates that Chadwick is a much more various and surprising artist than historians of the post-war period have sometimes assumed. Pertinent issues are discussed in this groundbreaking book, which fully illustrates the whole range of Chadwick's achievement.
