Osborne Samuel has an extensive fine art book collection with a particular focus on monographs covering the artists in which the gallery specialises including Jonathon Benington’s Sophie Ryder, the Edward Lucie-Smith Chadwick monograph and an extensive collection of Henry Moore publications.

In addition we have books encompassing our key areas of expertise. This includes the release of Modern British Art, a book published to accompany the recently re-launched Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, one of the finest collections of Modern British Art in the country. We have a number of publications covering the Grosvenor School linocuts, a department which is one of Osborne Samuel’s fortes, this includes The Cutting Edge of Modernity a book researched and written by director Gordon Samuel and Linocuts of the Machine Age , the Grosvenor School catalogue raisonné by Stephen Coppel.

We have a number of very thorough and useful resources on printmaking to compliment our large and varied print department of modern and contemporary prints including British Printmakers 1855 – 1955. We also have a number of new publications on the Indian Art world and some of its key artists which compliment the successful development of our Indian Art department.

We are constantly updating the collection with new releases and have regular book launches at the gallery throughout the year.

In addition we publish illustrated catalogues for the majority of our monthly gallery exhibitions. The catalogues include essays written by significant art critics and art historians including Norbert Lynton’s essay in our recent Peter Kinley: Paintings and Sculpture, Peter Davies text for our publication Nine Abstract Artists –Revisited which accompanied the facsimile of the original 1950s text of the same name and the recent Jonathan Black essay for our Edward Wadsworth exhibition The Rhythm of Things which also celebrates the launch of the Wadsworth catalogue raisonné Form, Feeling and Calculation in 2006.

All books and catalogues are available to order by contacting Brian Porter at the gallery or via email: bporter@osbornesamuel.com
